Greetings and Happy Spring!!
I'm sorry I did not post the new date for the next meet up. Sadly, we had a death in the family (my husbands step-mother) and then my kids have had a cold the last week.
I want to set a date for the next meet up. There are lots of signs of spring out here, so we can start on the spring activities.
This weekend, I will be preparing for a holiday for us, so we cannot meet up then and then the weekend after that it is Easter so I am sure alot of you will be busy. But I don't want to hold off for three weeks until our next meet up, so would after school work?
I am going to set a date for Thursday April 1, 2010 at 4:30pm. This will give everyone enough time to give their kids a snack after school and then meet up here at my house. I hope to see you there!

Beautiful Earth Nature Club is a way for families to get together and have fun learning about the outdoors. We follow activities from the "Handbook of Nature Study" by Anna Comstock and Joseph Cornell's book "Sharing Nature with Children". We also use the activities posted at the Handbook of Nature Study Blog.
Welcome!
Beautiful Earth Nature Club meets about once a month (more often during the summer months), for different events. The time and place to meet is posted here. Heidi and Chandra lead the group outings and plan the days activity. We will try to write a regular posting. It will include notes on past outings, pictures, etc as well as plans for the upcoming outings. It would be great if you could read these regularly to stay current. The location will usually be at Beautiful Earth Farm in Chelsea and occasionally elsewhere as planned. Most outings will include observing, sketching and dialogue and an occasional hike. We will usually meet for about an hour (sometimes more but we'll let you know).
Supplies to bring each time we meet (if you can):
*Sketchbook
*Colored pencils
*Magnifying glass (opt)
*A bag with a long handle to carry it all in. (opt)
A few things to keep in mind:
*You are responsible for the care of your own children.
*Dress for the weather, rain or shine
* Please be respectful of times posted for each meeting-I don't want to have to ask anyone to leave :) I am a busy mom and I work on our farm as well as an additonal outside job-my time is precious.
*Bring water and you own snacks (unless otherwise planned)
*Be flexible - always a good idea when children are involved!
*Have fun!
